Day 10

Sept 28th

The start of week three! Bunch of wood had arrived as the remodel starts to kick it into high gear - it's amazing how much they will accomplish this week. Our contractor orders the wood in a JIT (Just In Time) fashion, making sure it doesn't sit in the sun too long, causing it to warp.

Finalizing the foundation around that darn old root.

Floor joists are in for the extension. It's amazing what these 4 short feet will allow us to accomplish on the inside. By the way, the reason why we are only extending out 4ft is because there used to be a pool in this part of the yard (where I am standing). They did not remove the pool, but did what they do with most pools, cracked it up so the water seeped through and then just filled it in with dirt. We extended the house out as far as we could while still being a safe distance away from the edge of where the pool was.

Ceiling is starting to go in. Unfortunately, the beam structure and roofing requirements will not allow us to have a nicely shaped vaulted or coffered ceiling, so we have decided to go with the standard 8ft ceiling, but craft the attic to allow us to put storage up there. Also, where you see the roof that's exposed - right underneath there is where our furnace will be.
