Moving Weekend

Sept 19-20th
It's the weekend, and time for us to get completely out of the house so Garth and his guys can really get to work. Saturday started off early with me picking up the U-Haul at 7:30am. Of course the kids didn't even wait to get out of their pajamas before jumping into the truck. Karin and I took a load over to the apartment (including a small couch, our bed, the kids mattresses, kitchen table, etc.). We got back to the house just in time for Adam and Lance to come over and help me get some of the bigger items out to storage (thing that Karin couldn't help me with). We were done with all the big stuff by 2pm!

The moving of the smaller stuff continued into Sunday, but we also took this day to try out a few new paint colors on the walls. Karin and I learned our lesson a number of years earlier when we painted the first master bedroom (going through 4 colors of green before finding one that worked).

Below we let the kids try out a few color schemes as well. Unfortunately, they didn't quite get the concept - but they had fun doing it anyway! (BTW, the words above the lips in the lower left corner are "Pucker up" - a little funky painting and a misspelled word on Jazzy's part.) :-)

The previous owners had put in a brand new kitchen, bathrooms and carpeting when we bought the house, so we never bothered to look under the carpets. Imagine the nice surprise to find we had beautiful hardwood floors in the bedrooms.

Well, the beauty stopped in the bedrooms, as we found the roller rink parquet hardwood in our living room. Oh ya, and the area where we actually planned on putting hardwood floors (the family room) - that had ugly linoleum - go figure.

Trying some new paint colors. We're going with the color splotch on the top (Desert Sand with Oyster white for the trim - or something like that).

Our house in a 10x20 storage facility - filled right to the edge (literally)! And this doesn't include the stuff we took the apartment, or dressers we left in the garage, or the sofa-bed, stereo cabinet and other things we gave to the Salvation Army!
